Now open: 2017 nuc reservations

Bridgetown Bees is pleased to announce that we are offering nuc hives from both Foothills Honey Company (located near Molalla, Oregon) and Old Sol Apiaries (located in southern Oregon, near the town of Rogue River). Both are family-run businesses that offer high quality five-frame nucs. Bees have been used to pollinate almonds in California.

Foothills Honey Company Nucs

Queen source:  Hive bees raised near Molalla, with queens from Kona Queens in Hawaii. Queens in these five-frame nucs are either hybrid Italian or hybrid Carniolan. We no longer have a choice. In our experience, both are reliable in our climate.

Price: $150 for first pick-up date (April 15), $145 for the second and third dates (April 29 and May 13).

Down payment: $50 per nuc is required to reserve your nuc. The remaining balance is due at pick-up.

Old Sol Apiaries Nucs

Queen source: Hive bees raised in southern Oregon. You can choose either (1) Caucasian queens, or (2) queens from Old Sol survivor stock, which has a diverse background that includes Russians, Caucasians, VSH breeders, Minnesota Hygienics, and, of course, a pinch of Carniolans and Italians. All Old Sol queens are double vetted, and all will be marked--this year the color is yellow.

Nucs from the first pick-up date will have Oregon queens mated in California. Nucs for later pick-up dates will have queens mated in southern Oregon.

Price for first pick-up date, April 8: $170 for survivor-stock queens, $180 for Caucasian queen.

Price for second pick-up date, April 22: $165 for survivor-stock queens, $175 for Caucasian queen.

Price for third pick-up date, May 20: $160 for survivor-stock queens, $170 for Caucasian queen.

Down payment: $50 per nuc is required to reserve your nuc. The remaining balance is due at pick-up.
